Happy Monday readers!   The sun is still shining (although the skies are definitely threatening to open) and I’m looking forward to another week of reading!   The title for week 20 of Readarama is Suzanne Rindell’s The Other Typist. This book follows Rose Baker – an orphaned young woman working as a typist in... More ...

Happy Friday readers! The bank holiday weekend is in full swing with some sunny weather and an amazing read to fill up this coming Monday! This week I’ve been reading Nikita Lalawani’s The Village. I finished it yesterday so I can pop out and about later today and get in supplies for a day of lying about the garden and reading the rest of the weekend! As I mentioned in Monday’s post, I attempted reading only just before bed this week – however, by Wednesday, I was reading wherever I could to continue the fascinating plot of The ...

Happy Monday Readers! The sun is (kind of) shining, last week’s zombie threat is over and there’s a new book for me to get started on. This week I’m reading The Village by Nikita Lalwani. The Village, set in a location modelled on a location in India, follows the story of Ray, a young British-Asian woman. Ray arrives... More ...

I’m going to talk to you about a pet hate of mine: I hate when the synopsis of a book will tell me that I’ll feel a certain way when I finish the book, or I’ll be flabbergasted with a twist the turns up in the middle of the book or, for example with Toby’s Room, when I was promised I'd be left gobsmacked. However, as much as I hate to admit it, I did feel this way. I can’t go into spoilers of what happened in Toby’s Room to make me feel this way, but the surprise turn of events at the end of the book left me wanting more. If you follow my activity on Facebook you’ll have seen ...

Week Six Update

Hello Readararmy! After refusing to read Animal Farm until the day before the deadline and then being too busy to read Rebuilding Coventry until the weekend was over, I cleared my weekend and sat down yesterday to dive into Pat Barker’s Toby’s Room. Although it falls under one of my not-so favourite genres – historical... More ...

Week Four Update

February 18, 2013

Good morning readers! I’ve got a confession to make, I can’t decide if I’m excited about reading this week’s title or dreading it. It’s been a long time since I first read Animal Farm (around 12 years ago when I was sitting my GCSEs) and, as much as I loved reading it in class, it’s... More ...

Happy Monday Readararmy! Have you ever read a book that has had you so emotionally invested that you find yourself crying one minute and laughing the next? Although it may seem a cliché, but John Green’s The Fault in Our Stars is one of the rare books that I’ve read that does just that. I... More ...
