Hello Readers!   Today I’m writing to you from the local park where the sun is beating down – thankfully I have my copy of this week’s Readarama title to shelter my eyes from the sun. If you didn’t know already, this week’s Readarama title is Andrea Cremer & David Levithan’s young adult book, Invisibility.... More ...

Happy Friday readers! Another week flown by – thanks to the Bank Holiday Monday – and I managed to cram in two books this week: the Readarama Book of the Week, Rick Yancey’s The 5th Wave, and Marian Keyes’ The Mystery of Mercy Close as it’s been sitting on my to-read pile for a good few months! The 5th Wave was an interesting read and one that I managed to pack into one day’s worth of reading, thanks to the free day we were all given with the Bank Holiday – nothing beats lying in the garden with a small glass of, well, a nice beverage and ploughing through your latest ...

Hello readers and/or zombies! This week has been a great week for reading – Charlie Higson’s The Enemy was devoured faster than a zombie ‘grown-up’ eating a child. The Enemy, as we’re led to believe, are the grown-ups. We’re not sure exactly what happened but everyone over the age of 14 caught the disease and the kids are left to fend for ...

You’ve packed thick clothing, a weapon and enough food tins to last you until you find a supermarket to raid – but what do you do for entertainment? Your laptop won’t do – far too bulky and a good charge will last you 8 hours max. A Gameboy/iPod is no good without the sound and... More ...

End of week seven – Out of the Easy

March 15, 2013

I hope we’re all well and enjoying the transition into Spring? I don’t know where you are, but the weather seemed to get a little confused in my neck of the woods and turned from glorious sunshine to snow showers within an hour. It was just the excuse I was looking for to lie back and relax with this week’s read, Out of the Easy. Out of the Easy is set in the New Orleans of the 1950s and focuses on Josie Moraine, a young girl who wants out of The Big Easy and craves more from life than what it can provide. Daughter of a brothel prostitute, she dreams of enrolling in college and ...
